PERFORMANCE REPORT 2026:
DATA FROM 22+ ACTIVE DTC ACCOUNTS.

Industry benchmark reports average data across every account on a platform — including broken ones. This report draws from accounts we actively manage, giving you a sharper read on what properly-run Klaviyo accounts actually produce.

About This Report

The data in this report comes from Klaviyo accounts we have managed continuously since 2018. These are not survey responses, not self-reported figures, and not pulled from Klaviyo's platform-wide aggregate data. Every number below is read directly from Klaviyo's reporting dashboard for accounts we operate.

Accounts are anonymised by sector. Where we cite a specific metric, it reflects a sustained average — not a single high-performing send. A campaign that spiked to 60% once isn't a 60% account. The figures below are what these accounts produce month over month.

What Are the Klaviyo Benchmarks Across Our Managed Accounts?

The table below covers the accounts we can speak to with precision. All figures are from Klaviyo reporting. "Campaign open rate" is the sustained average across all campaign sends for each account. "Flow open rate" is the average across all active flows.

ACCOUNT SECTOR CAMPAIGN OPEN RATE FLOW OPEN RATE ACTIVE FLOWS EMAILS IN DATA SET
Health & Supplement (DTC) 54.8% 35.3% 205 2,516,217
Activewear & Fashion (DTC) 43.3% 50 campaigns
Pet Wellness (DTC) 77–81% 3+ years sustained
Ecommerce — General (DTC) 75.2% 16,000+ subscriber list

The lowest campaign open rate in this table is 43.3%. Klaviyo's published industry average for ecommerce sits around 30–35%. The gap isn't the result of any single tactic — it's the compounding effect of list hygiene, segmentation depth, and sustained subject line work across hundreds of sends.

What Does the Unsubscribe Rate Look Like?

Open rate is the metric most accounts watch. Unsubscribe rate is the one that tells you whether your content is matched to the people receiving it.

0.349%
Average unsubscribe rate across 50 campaigns — activewear account running 43.3% open rate

A 0.349% unsubscribe rate across 50 campaigns is low by any standard. The platform health benchmark for concern sits above 0.5% per send. For this account, maintaining a high open rate and a low unsubscribe rate simultaneously reflects two things: the send list is clean, and the content is relevant to the people receiving it. When either breaks down, unsubscribes rise even if open rates hold short-term.

What Does 205 Active Flows Actually Look Like?

The health and supplement account in this report runs 205 active flows. That number is frequently cited by people who want to either dismiss it ("nobody needs 200 flows") or fetishise it ("we need 200 flows"). Both responses miss the point.

205 flows doesn't mean 205 variations of the same abandoned cart sequence. It means every product category has its own post-purchase sequence. Every browse abandonment is product-aware, not generic. Loyalty tier changes trigger specific content. Subscription renewal reminders are timed to purchase cycle, not a fixed calendar. Win-back sequences are segmented by time-since-purchase and order count. Each flow exists because a customer state required a specific response — and the account has enough history to know what response each state deserves.

How Do These Numbers Compare to Industry Averages?

The table below places the managed account benchmarks against Klaviyo's published platform averages. These comparisons should be read carefully: industry averages include accounts that haven't been actively managed in years, brands with no list hygiene, and businesses that send one email to their entire list regardless of engagement status. They are not a floor — they are a mean dragged down by the bottom of the distribution.

METRIC KLAVIYO INDUSTRY AVERAGE OPENRATELAB MANAGED ACCOUNTS DELTA
Campaign open rate 30–35% 43–77% +13 to +44 pts
Flow open rate ~25% 35.3% +10 pts
Unsubscribe rate 0.5–1.0% 0.349% Below industry

What Separates High-Performing Accounts?

After managing 22+ active Klaviyo accounts across DTC sectors, three factors appear in every high-performing account and are absent from every underperforming one.

Active List Hygiene

Every account in the top tier of this report runs 4-tier engagement segmentation. Unengaged subscribers go through a win-back sequence and get suppressed. Open rates rise because the calculation denominator is smaller — and because inbox providers see more positive engagement signals per send, improving deliverability across the board.

Flow Depth

The highest-performing account runs 205 flows. The lowest still runs more than 20. No account in the top tier relies solely on the default Klaviyo flow templates. Flow architecture — the logic that determines what a subscriber receives and when, based on their specific behaviour — is the primary lever separating 30% open rate accounts from 60%+ ones.

Sustained Subject Line Work

A/B testing subject lines is standard advice. Doing it consistently — every campaign, tracked and iterated — is not common practice. Every account in this report runs subject line tests. The compounding effect of 50 campaigns of subject line iteration is not visible in any single send. It shows up in the 90-day trailing average, and it's the difference between holding 43% and drifting back to 30%.

Key Findings From This Report

FINDING 01
The minimum campaign open rate across all actively managed accounts in this report is 43.3% — above Klaviyo's published platform-wide average.
FINDING 02
The highest sustained campaign open rate is 77–81%, held across 3+ years on a pet wellness DTC account.
FINDING 03
205 active flows in a single account contributed to a 35.3% average flow open rate across 2.5M+ email sends.
FINDING 04
A 0.349% unsubscribe rate was maintained across 50 campaigns while holding a 43.3% campaign open rate.
FINDING 05
In every case, performance above 50% is associated with active list hygiene, flow depth beyond the default Klaviyo templates, and ongoing subject line iteration — not with any single tactic.

FREQUENTLY ASKED

What is a good Klaviyo open rate in 2026? [+]

Based on the 22+ accounts we actively manage: campaigns average 43–55%+ and flows average 35–40%+ on accounts with proper list hygiene and segmentation. Klaviyo's published industry benchmarks sit around 30–35% for campaigns. The gap is explained by list quality and segmentation depth — not any single tactic. Accounts sending to clean, well-segmented lists consistently outperform the industry average.

How many flows do top Klaviyo accounts run? [+]

The highest-performing account in this report runs 205 active flows. But flow count isn't the differentiator — flow relevance is. The 205 flows cover product-specific post-purchase sequences, category-level browse abandonment, loyalty tier triggers, subscription reminders, and VIP-only content. Each flow exists because a specific customer state required a specific response.

What's a normal Klaviyo unsubscribe rate for DTC brands? [+]

A healthy unsubscribe rate in Klaviyo is below 0.5% per send. The activewear account in this report maintained a 0.349% unsubscribe rate across 50 campaigns with 43.3% open rates — which is achievable when list hygiene is active and content is relevant to the segment receiving it. Rates above 0.8% per send signal a frequency or relevance problem that needs addressing before it compounds into a deliverability issue.
